Our Story

Handloom Legacy. Masterful Hands. Varanasi Soul.

Threaded Into Life since 2016

Ikshara Rugs was founded in Varanasi, India—a city globally revered as a holy sanctuary of handloom textiles, silk brocades, and artisanal expertise. Since 2016, our mission has been to connect international interior spaces with the exquisite techniques of local weaving masters.

Each rug is a labor of dedication. We believe that a luxury rug is more than simple floor cover—it anchors a room, represents the personal narrative of the weaver, and functions as a heritage piece to be passed down through generations.

Weaving Hubs & Process

Varanasi, Navsari, Dahanu, and Vasai

Varanasi (Hand-Knotted Hub)

Varanasi handles our high-density Hand-Knotted rugs. Master weavers knot organic silk and high-grade wool on traditional vertical looms. Each square inch can take up to 400 knots, capturing centuries-old historical motifs.

Navsari (Hand-Tufted Studio)

Our Navsari design studio is where modern abstract patterns and custom visual requests come to life. Using specialized hand-tufting tools, our artisans weave thick, high-low textures and carve contours by hand for dimensional depth.

Dahanu (Machine-Made Precision)

Dahanu handles high-speed weaving precision. Utilizing heavy-duty power looms, this workshop focuses on synthetic silk and heat-set polypropylene, delivering highly durable rugs for high-traffic living environments.

Vasai (Organic Jute braiding)

Vasai is dedicated to our natural collections. Working with raw, sustainably harvested golden jute, our weavers hand-braid organic textures, creating eco-friendly, biodegradable rugs with natural warmth and coastal vibes.
